ANTI GRAVITY is an editorial and book concept that explores the tension between stillness and motion. We developed a clean yet expressive design language that combines large-scale photography, bold typographic contrasts, and structured whitespace to create a sense of lightness and elevation. The result is a refined art book with a cinematic rhythm and tactile visual storytelling.

Anti Gravity started as a photobook about high-altitude alpinism – expeditions in Norway, Svalbard, and beyond. The task was to translate the raw, atmospheric photography into a book that reads like a journey: an editorial object that feels heavy in the hand, quiet on the page, and unmistakably its own.

Anti Gravity is an editorial and book concept that explores the emotional tension between stillness and movement, weight and weightlessness, and the profound beauty of extreme alpine environments. Centered around the remarkable journeys of Dani Arnold, one of Switzerland’s most celebrated ice climbers, the book invites readers deep into landscapes where silence, danger, and awe coexist.

Working with the powerful photographic work of Thomas Monsorno, an Italian photographer known for capturing raw natural environments with extraordinary sensitivity, we developed a visual language that amplifies the magnitude of their collaboration. Monsorno’s images — from vast glacier formations to intimate moments of ascent — became the guiding force for the book’s tonal and spatial rhythm.

Our design approach balances cinematic immersion with editorial clarity. Spreads move between full-bleed photography and restrained whitespace, creating a pacing that mirrors the physical and emotional arc of an expedition: moments of calm, moments of intensity, sudden shifts in perspective. Typography is intentionally minimal yet bold, allowing the landscape and Dani Arnold’s presence within it to speak with quiet power.

The book’s narrative structure follows Arnold’s interaction with extreme environments — deep blue ice caverns, fractured glacial bodies, and dramatic alpine expanses. Each layout frames the environment as both an adversary and a source of contemplative beauty, capturing the psychological space between fear, mastery, and flow.

Mockups, material explorations, and tactile previews were designed to express the physicality of the book: the cold texture of the imagery, the weight of the climbs, the monumental silence of the mountains. The final concept is not merely a printed object — it is an immersive visual journey that unites the world-class athleticism of Dani Arnold with the atmospheric lens of Thomas Monsorno.

Anti Gravity becomes a meditation on scale, solitude, resilience, and the human instinct to push beyond what seems possible. It stands at the intersection of editorial design, environmental storytelling, and high-altitude art.
